Baked Beans Recipe

Classic Baked Beans Recipe 🍲

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dried navy beans (or 4 cups canned beans, rinsed and drained)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups vegetable broth (or water)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Beans (Skip if Using Canned)

  1. Rinse the dried beans and soak them in water overnight.
  2. Drain and rinse the soaked beans. Place them in a pot with enough water to cover by at least an inch.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 45-60 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3: Assemble and Bake

  1. In a baking dish, mix the cooked beans and chopped onions with the sauce.
  2. Pour in the vegetable broth and stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  4. Remove the foil, stir, and bake uncovered for an additional 20-30 minutes until the sauce thickens and turns rich and caramelized.
